Places Where You Can Have Water Damage In Your Home

by Clara Nichols

Water damage can happen in many different areas of your home when they are exposed to water. However, there are some areas of the home most prone to getting water damage because they are in areas where there is an increased chance of them coming into contact with water. Here are some of the places around your home that you are going to want to make sure you watch for signs of water damage:

The eaves

You want to watch the eaves around your home. If you end up having issues with your gutters that you are unaware of, then this can end up causing water damage to the eaves. Those eaves can end up rotting and falling apart if you don't have the water damage taken care of as soon as you see it. Then, you also need to have the issues with your gutters taken care of as well.

The cupboards under the sinks

The pipes under your kitchen and bathroom sinks can leak. Also, there can be leaks coming from other areas, such as around the fixtures or the sink itself. When the water drips on the bottom of the cupboard, it can lead to water damage. Also, the water damage that happens in this area can lead to mold growth. Mold can be dangerous to breathe in, and it can spread quickly and cause damage to all of the areas that it takes hold in.

The area around the water heater

If you have a water heater that is in its own closet, then you can have a leak that can lead to water damage in the area around the water heater. If you are like most people, you won't open the water heater closet often. This means if there is a leak causing water damage, the damage can be extensive and it can continue to grow until the leak is fixed and the damage has been repaired.

The basement

If you have a basement in your home, then the plumbing pipes in this area can leak and continue until the leak is fixed. The worse the leak is or the longer it continues, the more water damage there can be in the basement. Mold can grow as well and create a health hazard for those who are living in the house. Check your basement regularly, and if you see signs of a leak and water damage, have these things repaired right away.
